London Borough of Southwark
Fizz Free February was created to encourage people (initially children) to cut out sugary drinks for the rest of the month. The campaign has received support from ‘at the time’, Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock, TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and politician Tom Watson. Whatever Design was asked to create this campaign originally for Southwark Council, but due to its success its now part of the national Sugar Smart UK campaign and councils from across the country are taking part. The collateral originally created for this successful campaign was a short animation, various digital assets for social media and street advertisements. After its first year of success, Southwark Council received a huge interest regarding the campaign and therefore decided to share assets to anyone who wanted to encourage more people to ditch the fizz. We created a downloadable suite of digital assets and tool kit with guidance on how to use them in collaboration with their own brand.
In just its second year, Fizz Free February reached more people than ever before. There has been a great appetite for the campaign across the country, with many councils, businesses, organisations and individuals pledging to go fizz free and running the campaign in their local area. Over 25 councils across the UK have engaged with the initiative and it has been a wildly popular national online campaign.
